About : When she was in Junior College(sangli), she performed for the first time in a play. Thereafter, she developed interest in acting and started taking part in Inter collegiate competitions. Her play, ‘Aadhe Adhure’ got her the Best Actor award, which encouraged her to take up acting as a career. She enjoyed this field and made up her mind to choose this field as her career. Coming to Mumbai in 2004, Sai tried her hand at a course in hotel management. She also auditioned for an MTV programme. Her first break, however, came for a Marathi serial, which got her more serials. It was during the award ceremony of her play that she was offered a major role in the marathi sitcom ‘Ya Gojirvanya Gharat’. Since she has also acted in other Marathi serials like, Agni Shikha, Sathi Re and Kasturi. She has also been a part of Hindi films like Subhash Ghai’s Black & White and Ghajini. Sai Tamhankar today is a sought after actor in Marathi film industry. She is called one of the bankable stars in the same. Started her career with doing street plays and inter-college drama competitions in Sangli to working with Aamir Khan in ‘Ghajini’ and Subhash Ghai’s ‘Black and White’, . Apart from Marathi serials, Sai also featured in Balaji’s ‘Kasturi’. While shooting for the Ghai’s ‘Black and White’, she was offered the lead role in ‘Sanai Chowghade’.Sonam Kapoor is one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood, known for her sense of style and a track record of movies which is now on the upswing.  Though she started off by giving a lot of flops, by 2012 , the 28 year oldshe went on an introspection mode, the result of which she has been associated with successful films like Raanjhana and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

Sonam Kapoor started her career as a model and then as assistant director. Now she is an established Bollywood actress. Her debut film was Saawariya, opposite Ranbir Kapoor in 2007 and she was nominated as the Filmfare award for Best Female Debut for the movie.
Early life
Sonam Kapoor was born on June 9th in 1985 in the suburb of Chembur, Mumbai to actor Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor. She is the granddaughter of well known filmmaker Surinder Kapoor. After a month of her birth the family moved to Juhu suburb, where they are still residing. She has one younger sister Rhea Kapoor and brother Harshvardhan.
Kapoor is niece of producer Sandeep Marwah, Boney Kapoor and actor Sanjay Kapoor, and first cousin of Anushala Kapoor and actor Arjun Kapoor. From her mothers side she is second cousin of actor Ranveer Singh.
She is a trained classical dancer and speaks Hindi, English, Marathi and Punjabi. She studied in Arya Vidya Mandir school in Juhu, United World College of South East Asia in Singapore and theatre and arts for 2 years in Singapore.
Sonam Kapoor - Career Graph
In 2007 Sonam Kapoor debuted with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya that failed to get good success at the box office. However, critics had given good reviews about her performance in the movie and she was nominated as the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
After a gap of one year the actress again appeared in Delhi-6 in 2009 opposite Abhishek Bachchan. This film of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra too failed to do well at the box office, but her performance was praised.
Her first box office success came in 2010 with the movie I Hate Luv Storys. Her performance opposite to Imran Khan was highly praised. It was said she finally got a role that justifies her personality.
Later she appeared in fairly successful romantic comedy Aisha, Thank You, Mausam, Players and Bombay Talkies.  Sonam Kapoor’s landmark performance has been in Raanjhanaa, which is her biggest hit till date.
Her latest film is Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.  Sonam Kapoor said that she would consciously stay away from movies with average to bad scripts, even if they have the traits of being a blockbuster.  She has said that she will only do good films.
Philanthropy
Sonam Kapoor took part in the charity fashion show at International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) in 2009. Last year the actress appealed to fans for donating to the Ogaan Cancer Foundation for her birthday. She also had come forward in creating breast cancer awareness.

In 2008 Sonam Kapoor was nominated for Filmfare Awards for Best Female Debut, Screen Awards for Most Promising Newcover as well as Jodi No. 1 with Ranbir Kapoor, Zee Cine Awards for Best Femael Debut and IIFA Awards for Star Debut of the Year - Female. All these nominations for her film Saawariya. In 2010 she was nominated for the Asian Film Awards Best Debutante - Female for the film Delhi-6 and in 2012 for the Stardust Awards Best Comedy/Romance Actress for Thank You.

In 2008 Head & Shoulders awarded her Sony Fresh Face of the Year. In 2011 NDTV titles her as the Brand Ambassador of the Year and Hello! Hall of Fame Awards as Face of the Year - Female. The next year Sonam Kapoor won the title of Fun Fearless Female Best Dressed by Cosmopolitan Awards and in 2013 Hindustan Times crowned her as Timeless Style Icon Award.
Does Sonam Kapoor have a boyfriend ?
Sonam Kapoor is not known to mince words while speaking, however she is quite guarded about her personal life. . Media earlier rumored about her dating life, but nothing has been confirmed by either her or her near and dear ones. During her Saawariya filming it was speculated she is in relationship with co-star Ranbir Kapoor. Later the two denied. Her link with I Hate Luv Storys director Punit Malhotra was also followed.
Sonam Kapoor appeared in November 2010 on Koffee With Karan chat show with director Karan Johar and alongside actress Deepika Padukon, where  both the actresses made fun of Ranbir Kapoor, which did not go well with the actor’s father Rishi Kapoor.
Sonam Kapoor along with Punit Malhotra had criticized Shobhaa De for her statements, especially the one that the author had made for Deepika Padukone saying that let alone be the sexiest woman on Earth, Deepika was not cut out for Miss. Dombivali contest as well.  While Deepika did not interact, Sonam called Shobhaa De a writer of cheap(sic) books and said ‘if she (Shobha) thinks Deepika is ordinary then she sure needs to wear glasses. Her eyesight is failing her.’ Sonam Kapoor is high on praises for actresses like Kareena Kapoor and Vidya Balan.
There were rumors about Sonam Kapoor not getting along with Abhay Deol, however the actress said that she was friends with him, and it was her father who had a problem with him during the making of Aisha.
Sonam Kapoor weight loss story (fat to fit)
Sonam Kapoor was once fat; she admits that during her boarding school times, she had put on a lot of weight.  She said that she became conscious about losing weight while assisting director Sanjay  Leela Bhansali for Black.  Her commitment to go slim earned her a debut film from the same director ‘Saawariya’.
Sonam Kapoor told Koel Purie in a chat show that her father would call her a papaya because of her huge posterior.  She added that once while in a movie screening, she had eaten 20 samosas in one go. But once
she decided to lose weight, Sonam Kapoor set her priorities clear. She says, “I was so fond of as a teenager-chocolates, ice creams, fried foods and sweets. My goal , was to lose 35 kilos.
I started weight training with trainers Shervir and Monisha; artistic yoga and Power Yoga with Bharat Thakur; Pilates with Yasmin Karachiwala and general fitness with trainer Zarine Watson. My training in Kathak helped me too. It's a vigorous form of classical dance and helps you get a toned body.
In addition, Zarine put me on six small meals a day-low on carbs and high on protein. My breakfast consisted of oatmeal and fruits. Post-work-out, I had brown bread with egg whites. Afterwards, it was a protein shake with juice. Lunch comprised dal, sabzi, one ragi roti, salad and a piece of chicken or fish. The evening snack, was high-fibre crackers with chicken cold cuts or egg whites. At dinner, it was soup, salad and a piece of chicken or fish. I followed this routine for a year and lost 35 kilos in all!
 Sonam Kapoor says that men in India are obsessed about weight, especially about their wives.  In her words, “Weight is relative and absolute, intimate and public, invasive and pervasive.  It has been the center of my life. “
